Norland advancement training wins industry award

A training course developed by Norland Managed Services has collected a prize at the 2010 H&V News Awards.

Norland’s Human Resources Director, Rachael Henderson, and Training and Development Co-ordinator, Caroline Barlow, received the trophy for Training Initiative of the Year from comedian Hugh Dennis at a glittering awards dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane in London on 30 April.

The judges hailed Norland’s programme as “a masterclass in management development that shows excellent results”.

The award was for Norland’s Contract Manager Programme (CMP) which is designed specifically for supervisors, and is probably unique in the building services industry. The course provides delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to take the next career step to become contract managers.

The programme consists of eight modules delivered over nine months as a series of one and two day workshops. Subjects covered include leadership, team building, presentation skills, finance, change, personal effectiveness and understanding the customer.

Successful completion of the course provides participants with an Institute of Leadership and Management Level Three Certificate in Management, a highly regarded and externally recognised qualification.

Ian Entwisle, Norland’s Chief Executive, said: “The skills of our employees are vital to ensuring the delivery of exceptional service to our customers. We created this course to enable our own employees to develop their skills and make that crucial next career step within Norland.”
