Quality, Health, Safety & Environment

Continuous improvement in our health, safety and environmental performance is at the core of our
business. The welfare of our customers, our people and our sub-contractors is fundamental to our exceptional service delivery. Health, safety and environmental considerations will always be given priority in planning works and day to day activities.

Quality, health, safety and environmental professionals report directly to our Health & Safety Director and in turn the
Health & Safety Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer.  In addition to our own people, this team educates our customers and sub-contractors. They provide a focal point for specialist knowledge and best practice and monitor, analyse and improve
compliance with legal and organisational standards.

We operate an Integrated Management System (IMS) which is certified to the following international standards:

  • BS EN ISO 9001; 2000 Quality Management (enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction)
  • OHSAS 18001; Health & Safety Management (eliminate or reduce health and safety risks)
  • BS EN ISO 14001; Environmental Management (eliminate or reduce environmental risks)

Our industry leading Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) intranet is readily accessible to all employees.
It provides access to our integrated rules and guidance, resources, risk assessments, task sheets, training material, toolbox talks and communication media.

Our full programme of in-house delivered Health, Safety and Environmental training includes:  bespoke E-learning modules, 'toolbox talks' for engineers’ team meetings, IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Working Safely and Energy Management Awareness.

• We host a series of topical seminars providing health, safety and environmental advice for all employees and customers. These seminars are delivered nationally and have included incident prevention, 'working at heights' and 'near-miss reporting'.

• Our health, safety and environmental performance is measured by a number of indicators:
- a series of audits by competent auditors
- health, safety and environmental inspections by line management
- near-miss reporting
- accident rates

• Management review of health, safety and the environment is undertaken at all levels from monthly contract reviews, through Business Unit and Divisional reviews, to Board meetings.
